The Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Harbor District Alliance are proud to announce the Second Annual “Taste the Good Life in Little Washington” is coming up in February 2014..
Beth Byrd, Executive Director of the Washington Harbor District Alliance and Catherine Glover, Director of the Chamber of Commerce would like to invite people to participate who are interested in delicious cuisine, fine wines, great beer and the finer things in life.
Not everyone in eastern NC knows this yet, but Washington, NC has become a dining destination. Both agencies are happy to say that we now have over 10 dining establishments downtown. Washington now offers a diverse menu selection for those with discriminating palates. There is everything from gourmet hamburgers to Mediterranean food available and seafood to prime rib. Washington offers outdoor seating with wonderful views of the river, beautifully restored historic buildings with tons of charm, an oyster bar, and restaurants that are locally owned with owners on hand to guarantee a fantastic dining experience.
It was with this in mind that the Washington Harbor District Alliance and the Washington Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce joined together to bring this event to Washington. “We will be celebrating all the best that Little Washington has to offer at this event”, states Catherine Glover. There will be tastings from  restaurants and food purveyors, many samples of different wines that are available in Washington and we are happy to also offer tastings on tap from Duck Rabbit Brewery, Shock Top, Bud Black Crown, Goose Island, and Natty Greene’s.
There will also be a preview of trends in both jewelry and fashion and a presentation of other life amenities only found here in Little Washington.
The first 200 attendees get a commemorative tasting glass made especially for the event. Everyone attending should try to get there at 6:00 so that they can soak up the tunes from The Little Big Band, who will play a wonderful repertoire of jazz standards.
“The idea was to have this event as a big blow-out birthday party in order to celebrate George Washington’s birthday, which is held that week. We think the City’s namesake would be proud of what Washington has become. Anyway it is as good an excuse as any to throw a party”! Beth Byrd laughs while saying.
Tickets will be available at the Chamber of Commerce at 102 Stewart Parkway or call 252-946-9168 if you are unable to get to the Chamber. No one under 21 will be admitted. Any profits made will be used to support both agencies that make it a priority to promote and support the businesses in Washington. If you are a interested in becoming a vendor at this event call the Chamber at 946-9168.
